PlanET Launch Set for October 11
Community event on Market Square in downtown Knoxville signals the start of a three-year planning effort for our five-county region.
Plan East Tennessee (PlanET) is a regional partnership of communities working toward a shared vision. We seek ideas about protecting our valuable resources and addressing our challenges regarding jobs, housing, transportation, a clean environment, and community health. Our goal is to create long-term solutions for investments in our region and to define the next chapter in our rich history, leaving a legacy of optimism and opportunity for future generations.
We will be kicking-off the PlanET process on Tuesday, October 11, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Market Square in downtown Knoxville. The kick-off event will include guest speakers from our region, including community members sharing the personal stories of their individual experiences and visions for our region. Visitors to the kick-off will also be treated to an open house demonstration of some of the innovative techniques and tools PlanET will be using to gather public input during the project's upcoming community forums.
PlanET will feature many opportunities for public input, starting with the kick-off event on October 11. The first series of community forums will begin in the Fall. These community-oriented conversations will serve as a foundation for the project and take on a variety of forms over the next two years.
