Planning Veteran Office Assistant Charlotte West Retires
Planning staff bid farewell last week to long-time administrative assistant Charlotte West, who retired with more than 23 years of service to the agency.
Charlotte came to Planning in 1988 after a lengthy career at TVA, bringing her expert word processing, reception, and clerical skills to assist Planning's staff. One of the agency's most versatile team members, Charlotte was responsible for preparing reports, agendas, minutes, mail-outs, and other documents for nearly all divisions of Planning, including Transportation Planning, Historic Zoning, Downtown Design Review Board, and Comprehensive Planning.
Providing back-up service at the reception desk, Charlotte also greeted Planning's walk-in customers each day. A Knoxville native and Central High School grad from an undisclosed number of years ago, Charlotte was friend and colleague to many folks that come to the office each day.
Charlotte states that she will begin a new career in pursuit of leisure, but she will stay busy, performing locally with Knoxville's Community Recreation Band, keeping up with her active granddaughter at Powell Middle School, and travelling the country with close friends.
