Commuter Challenge Heads Downtown

Smart Trips' annual Commuter Challenge will focus its marketing efforts on downtown Knoxville this year with several promotions aimed at raising the program's profile and encouraging participation.

First up, Smart Trips has written a script for a YouTube video, and production is set to begin soon. Smart Trips participants will star?stay tuned, as full details will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Next, the Commuter Challenge officially kicks off the First Friday in June with Smart Trips Downtown Prize Trolley, an event modeled on the popular TV show Cash Cab. From 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 1, Smart Trips will take over one of the Gay Street trolleys and give away prizes, such as movie tickets and downtown merchant gift cards, to riders who correctly answer trivia questions.

In July, Smart Trips unveils its Downtown Window Display contest. Entrants will decorate windows in downtown Knoxville with the theme of transportation choices. The public will be able to vote for their favorite windows July 6 through 23, with winners announced on July 25. A map of participating locations will be printed in Metro Pulse during the week of July 5.
