For Nick Schoenborn a Map is Worth a Thousand Words
"You can really tell a story with a map," said MPC's newest Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst, Nick Schoenborn.
"What I love about GIS is that you can look at a map of a place and understand so much about it."
Schoenborn joined MPC in December after serving as a graduate research assistant in the Office of Information Technology at the University of Tennessee. For three years, he helped students and faculty?who were not necessarily GIS savvy?augment their projects and theses. And now, he's excited to have a job "that is exactly what I went to school for," he said.
In his role at MPC, Schoenborn will be analyzing data and making maps to support his coworkers and ultimately serve the public. His work will be an integral part of many MPC projects and data sets, like sector plans and traffic counts.
When he's not at the office, Schoenborn is working on his Master of Science in Geography. He enjoys soccer, bicycling, and traveling, especially to visit family in Germany.
Welcome to the team, Nick!
