Zoning Ordinance Stakeholder Advisory Committee Meeting Summary

After nearly 60 years, the City of Knoxville is updating its zoning ordinance.

A lot has changed since that time, which is remembered for the Market House fire in downtown, the expansion of UT, and the annexation of Fountain City, Bearden, West Hills, Norwood, and Gresham. The end result will be a modernized code that will help shape the city for the next 20-40 years.

The Stakeholder Advisory Committee met for the first time Monday, March 27 at 10 a.m. in the Small Assembly Room of the City County Building. The committee, made up of representatives from business, neighborhood, environmental, and other groups from the community, was appointed by Mayor Madeline Rogero and confirmed by City Council on Jan. 31, 2017.

All committee members will serve for two years, allowing them to be involved in the entire process.
