Lindsay Crockett Joins Staff

Though she was born in Knoxville, Lindsay lived in Madison, WI and Fargo, ND as a young child so her mother could complete a PhD.

When Lindsay was in the fourth grade, they made their way back south to Maryville. After high school, Lindsay moved to Sewanee, TN to attend the University of the South where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in art history.

After college, Lindsay decided to head to the coast in Charleston, SC, where she studied historic preservation through a joint program with the College of Charleston and Clemson. After graduating, she landed a job in Nashville as an architectural historian at a small consulting firm where she worked on Section 106 review, architectural surveys, National Register nominations and more. After being in Nashville for a few years, Lindsay was ready to head home to East Tennessee. She took a job with the East Tennessee Development District where she worked for more than three years as a historic preservation and housing planner.

There she gained experience in housing rehabilitation, state and federal preservation programs, grant applications and administration, and National Register nominations.

This background has positioned Lindsay to work with our agency on historic zoning and preservation. Since her arrival in June she has jumped right in, working with the city and county historic zoning commissions and delving into several projects. We’re excited to add her to our team and already appreciate her contributions!

When she isn’t in the office, you might find Lindsay spending time with her husband at their home in one of Knoxville’s historic neighborhoods. They also love exploring local trails in the Urban Wilderness and various state parks. When adventuring in the woods, you’re likely to find her backpacking, swimming, trail running, or hiking.
