Sector Plan Amendment Map Shows Growth Trends
As Knox County continues to grow, there has been a great deal of interest in emerging trends in land development. To create a visual representation of these changes, Planning staff created a map of approved sector plan amendments across the entire county since 2010. The map allows you to click on each amendment to see details, including new land use class, approved rezoning, Growth Plan designation, acreage, and the year the amendment was heard.
Not surprisingly, the greatest number of plan amendments can be found in the Northwest County Sector. For the last several years, this increasingly popular area has led the way in residential and non-residential construction. The sector covers Karns, Hardin Valley, Cedar Bluff north of I-40, and includes some of the county’s most heavily trafficked roads, like Oak Ridge Highway, West Emory Road, and Hardin Valley Road.
This map is one of many tools showing where growth is occurring and how the character of certain areas is changing, helping local leaders make informed decisions about Knox County’s future.
