2024 Facts & Figures Report Available
Each summer, Knoxville-Knox County Planning releases a Facts & Figures report that highlights economic, governmental, natural, and cultural features of the Knoxville area.
Knoxville consistently ranks among the nation’s best places to live, visit, raise a family, and own a business. The area is home to numerous arts and culture venues, special events held throughout the year, and outdoor adventure destinations like the expansive Urban Wilderness. It is also within a short drive of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park which draws millions of visitors every year.
Knox County is the regional hub, accounting for over half of the population and labor force. The county sees a lower unemployment rate and a higher median annual income than the metro area and the report includes additional details on leading industries, major employers, and other regional characteristics that contribute to this.
