2023-2024 Annual Report Available

Much of our agency’s work over the past year has focused on advancing long-range planning efforts to help guide our community.

Each year, we distribute an Annual Report to showcase that work, and the most recent edition is now available.

Among this year’s highlights, Planning and city staff collaborated to craft Middle Housing standards that were adopted by the Planning Commission and City Council. We have also partnered with the city on the Breathe project, a Climate Pollution Reduction Grant for the Knoxville MSA. Additionally, work on Knox County’s Comprehensive Land Use and Transportation Plan, outcomes of the Advance Knox process, concluded this year. The Comprehensive Plan and the Future Land Use Map were both adopted and are now in effect. Our transportation division began updating the long-range transportation plan known as Mobility Plan 2050 and successfully completed the federal certification review of the metropolitan transportation planning and programming process. We also provided website support for partnering agencies and continued work to enhance our interactive tools.

In addition to the work of staff, our Planning Commissioners heard 524 cases, and commissioners and members of the Design Review Board, Historic Zoning Commissions, and TTCDA continued their work.

For more information on the projects mentioned here and other work completed over the past year, see the full report.
