Annual Report Available

Collaboration is at the core of our agency's work.

As record-setting development activity continues throughout our region, our staff has been busy balancing monthly caseloads with long-range planning efforts. That work is featured in the most recent edition of our Annual Report.

Notably, we have begun the final stage of Advance Knox to create a Unified Development Ordinance that will combine Knox County’s zoning, street standards, subdivision regulations, building code, and stormwater regulations into one cohesive document. We are preparing to embark on a comprehensive plan for the City of Knoxville as well, and we have been working with the City and Knoxville Area Transit on developing a map that identifies areas best suited for connecting transit to housing and jobs.

In April, our region’s long-term transportation plan, Mobility Plan 2050, was adopted. It details 131 projects totaling $5.15 billion in investment to enhance the mobility of our community. Our transportation division has also been supporting the City of Knoxville on the Breathe project, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the region.

In addition to the work of staff, our Planning Commissioners heard 588 cases, and commissioners and members of the TPO Executive Board and Technical Committee, Design Review Board and Historic Zoning Commissions continued their work. TTCDA met through April of this year, at which point the group was dissolved and responsibility for design guideline review was turned over to staff.

For more information on the projects mentioned here and other work completed over the past year, see the full report.
