UDO Open Houses Scheduled

As part of the Advance Knox process, Knox County adopted a Comprehensive Land Use and Transportation Plan in 2024. The third and final phase of Advance Knox is now underway as the County creates a Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) that will support the goals and place types within the Comprehensive Plan.

The UDO will be a single document made up of zoning, street standards, subdivision regulations, stormwater regulations, and fire and building codes. By combining these standards for site design and development into one cohesive document, users will be able to review developments effectively, avoid overlapping regulations, and make the process more accessible and easier to navigate for all users.

This summer, we’ve been assessing our current regulations and talking to stakeholders, and now we’re ready to hear from you!

During an upcoming series of open houses, the community will be able to get an update on the process, learn about proposed recommendations, and have an opportunity to provide feedback.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 25

All in-person meetings will be an open house format to allow participants to come and go at their convenience and will feature a presentation at 5:30 pm. While the presentation is not mandatory, it will help orient participants to the materials being shared at various stations. A virtual lunchtime option is also available.

Following these meetings, all information will be shared online with the opportunity to provide comments through October 5, 2025.
