UDO Online Comment Period Open

As part of the Advance Knox process, Knox County adopted a Comprehensive Land Use and Transportation Plan in 2024 (the plan). The third and final phase of Advance Knox is now underway as the County creates a Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) that will support the goals and place types within the Comprehensive Plan.

We hosted a series of in-person and virtual meetings on September 23 and 25, and the information shared is available for review online through October 5, 2025, along with the presentation from the virtual meeting.

There were four stations at the in-person meetings. Two informational stations provided context about what a UDO is and why we need one, and to demonstrate the misalignment between the place types created in the plan with current zoning. The goal of the two interactive stations was to gain input about some of the gaps and proposed recommendations that were identified during the audit process.

Soon, the consultants will begin creating a draft of the UDO, and your feedback will help inform it. If you were unable to attend the meetings, we encourage you to review the materials online and provide your input.
