Agency welcomes new Communications and Outreach Specialist, Becca James

Becca began her role in January and has been learning the nuances of our agency ever since.

She had some familiarity with transportation planning through her previous role as Director of Marketing with Knoxville Area Transit, which sparked her interest in the role.

She recognizes the complexity of our work and says that learning more each day is like being back in college, but it is also one of the things she loves about her role – that and how no day is ever the same. Some days she focuses on crafting social media posts or planning an outreach event, while other days are spent curating a newsletter or article to support the work of the agency. Some days she does a little of all the above and more.

If her name sounds familiar, it is likely because Becca was a radio DJ before transitioning her career to the government sector. She still loves listening to the radio, and music in general. She encourages that love of music in her twin sons, as well as a love of sports. She and her husband play on a co-ed softball team and help coach their twins' baseball team. Outside of playing sports, her family can be found outdoors hiking, swimming, or enjoying one of the many parks in our county.

When she finds downtime, Becca enjoys reading, attending musicals at the Tennessee Theatre, and sharing a meal with friends at some of her favorite restaurants, like Angry Dumplings Tea, Potchke, and Zalate Taqueria.
