Sophia Dieckhaus joins agency as Planning & Addressing Specialist

Sophia’s interest in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is what drew her to our team in May.

She graduated from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, with an environmental science degree and had familiarity with GIS, but was eager to learn more. Using KGIS is one of the things she enjoys most in her role, and she looks forward to becoming even more proficient with it.

Her other favorite things about her role are getting to play detective when researching and fixing addressing discrepancies, and figuring out what addresses to apply to new subdivisions. She says it is like a puzzle that provides a fun challenge.

When she is away from the addressing counter, you can often find Sophia seeking out some of East Tennessee’s beautiful scenery and vistas. She is willing to endure an afternoon in a kayak or a hike with her Great Dane, Zara, to find a great view.

Sophia has a whimsical personality that is apparent in things like her mug collection. She gets a new one every Christmas, and her favorite looks like an octopus. Her affinity for quirky pottery is growing as she tries to develop a green thumb – she recently bought a planter with a face on it so that the leaves look like hair.

As a relatively new Knoxvillian (she moved here from Dayton, TN), she looks forward to exploring the area, trying restaurants, and checking out the craft beer scene.
