In response to the letter by Attorney Benjamin Mullins, I take exception to his following statement: "While there are a few plots remaining, the cemetery is over 95% full, with the majority of the grave sites being 100 years old or more." As record keeper of the Concord Cemetery, I submit the following current inventory taken today, July 9, 2024: ¢ Percentage of Graves Used/Interred: 60% ¢ Number of Graves >100 years: 105 which amounts to 8% of total capacity ¢ Oldest marked grave is 1865 ¢ Graves that are open and are available for sale or owned by families: 891 which amounts to 40% of total capacity These statistics should show that the cemetery is still active and being used by the community. I would add that the number of open graves are currently being owned by families can be inherited to family members for years to come or can be sold if desired. Albeit historical, by no means is this plot of land just an "old cemetery." I would further add that, in my opinion, Second Drive cannot handle large amounts of traffic and is NOT amenable to widening along the cemetery side of the road due to graves that are very close to the right of way. I would also add that it is entirely possible that many unmarked graves could be susceptible of being disturbed without a study of the ground along the proposed border.
