I am with the East TN Cemetery Research. Since 1976 I have documented, recorded and published all of Knox County's 415 cemeteries and my research is found in the holdings of the Knox County Archives and the McClung Historical Library in Knoxville. I have done four surveys of Concord Masonic Cemetery dating back to 1985 and each time that I have been there I have found evidence of graves located outside of the boundaries of the cemetery proper in the trees on the cemetery's western boundary. This consists of both marked (fieldstone markers) and unmarked graves. I have contacted Graham Perry, with the Tennessee Historical Commission, to make a recommendation for a certified archeologist who can do a survey of the property to determine if graves exist here and to what extent. Concord Masonic cemetery dates to the mid 1860's and through the years the area of upkeep has defined the cemetery's boundaries, but people in need will always look for any free spot in which to inter their dead.
