Level 1: Minor alteration of an existing building/structure

1-A-15-DT

This proposal revises the approved exterior material for the Walnut Parking Garage - Storage Building. Previous approvals: Certificate of Appropriateness 12-B-12-DT, 3-B-14-DT, and 12-D-14-DT.

On the south elevation (facing the adjacent surface parking lot) the original design had metal wall panels from the ground to the top of the roof parapet. The proposed changes omits the panels from the ground level to the first floor, with the exception of the vertical architectural element on the front façade near the sidewalk. The exposed solid concrete wall will be covered with textured paint and colored to blend with the new façade. On the vertical architectural element of the front façade, the metal wall panel will remain on the south elevation

Staff Comments
The stated reason for the proposed change is a concern with potential damage to the metal wall panels by cars and/or traffic from the adjacent parking lot that could result in costly repairs.
