Reason for Change
A portion of Willow Avenue was closed, which caused the eastern and western portions of this right-of-way to be disconnected. Having non-contiguous road segments with the same street name is a safety concern for the Knox County Emergency Communications District. The name "Patton Street" was selected to retain a historic street name in this community.

Approve the street name change from Willow Avenue to Patton Street as requested by the City of Knoxville.Staff Recommendation
Approve the street name change from Willow Avenue to Patton Street as requested by the City of Knoxville.1. The City of Knoxville has requested to change the street name of Willow Avenue to Patton Street. A portion of Willow Avenue was closed between Patton and Florida Streets (11-C-21-C), which caused the eastern and western portions of this right-of-way to be disconnected. Having non-contiguous road segments does not comply with the City of Knoxville's Street Naming and Addressing Ordinance.
2. The construction of the new Multi-Use Stadium established a new terminus at Florida Street for this section of Willow Avenue. This proposal is to rename the section of Willow Avenue, between Florida Street and McCalla Avenue, to Patton Street. The name "Patton Street" was selected to retain a historic street name in this community.
3. Planning mailed informational letters to all property owners impacted by the name change, notifying them of the proposed name change. The proposed street name change from Willow Avenue to Patton Street will impact approximately 7 businesses and a 35-unit multi-family complex.
4. The name change meets the City of Knoxville's Code of Ordinances Street Name and Addressing requirements, Chapter 23, Article IV, Section 23-108.
