1. Under the Infill Housing overlay, the DRB reviews additions visible from the primary street. The proposed addition will be visible from both sides on Barton Street.
2. The addition is proposed for the rear of the house, which meets the design guidelines for placement.
3. Guidelines recommend that exterior cladding, roof materials, doors, and windows should be compatible with those on the existing house. The proposed vinyl siding, architectural shingle materials, and 1/1 double-hung windows reflect the existing house and the guidelines.
4. The proposed 9/12 pitch roof is compatible with the steeply-pitched roof on the primary house.
Staff Comments
New rear addition. One-story addition will measure 14' wide by 20' deep, projecting from the rear right (southeast) corner of the house. The addition will feature a gable roof clad in asphalt shingles, an exterior of vinyl lap siding, and paired double-hung vinyl windows on each side. The foundation height will be 2' tall to align with the existing house's foundation.
