Disposition Summary
Approve the name change from Topside Road to Scenic River Road as requested by the Knox County Engineering and Public Works.
Staff Recommendation
Approve the name change from Topside Road to Scenic River Road as requested by the Knox County Engineering and Public Works.
1. The applicant has proposed changing the street name of Topside Road to Scenic River Road because of a recent right-of way realignment by TDOT. A portion of Topside Road was realigned to cross Alcoa Highway. The old segment of Topside Road located on the west side of Alcoa Highway now needs a new name.
2. Two names were proposed by residents in the area. All property owners adjacent to the subject street section were provided the opportunity to vote for the new street name. The name 'Scenic River Road' was selected based on the majority vote.
3. Addressing staff has approved the proposed street name. Three addresses along the old section of Topside Road have already been readdressed as Scenic River Road.
4. Staff has received no objections to the renaming of this right-of-way.
5. The name change meets all requirements of the City of Knoxville's Code of Ordinances, Chapter 23, Article IV, Section 23-108.
