APPROVE Certificate No. 70110MKT. Proposed work is consistent with Market Square Design Guidelines. It completes the rehabilitation process that was begun on the west and first bay of the north elevations (Certificate No. 30509MKT) in March 2009.Applicant Request
- Level IV: Demolition of Wall Avenue first floor storefront & alley openings;
- Level II: New Wall Avenue storefront, awnings, signage, aluminum railing and sidewalk seating, repair and repoint masonry as necessary. There is an encaustic tile floor in the recess that will be retained, if possible, although it may not be possible to preserve it intact. Signs will include a 2x3 hanging sign on the west elevation for tenants in the building, a 2x3 sign at the Wall street entrance on the east end of the building, and a circular sign over the front entry that could be internally lit with cut out letters. Shelf awnings over the front windows and the windows on the Wall Street elevation at the west end of the building.

Market Square H-1
- Style: Neoclassical Commercial (c.1910)
- Woods & Taylor Building. Four story brick with engaged Tuscan columns punctuating bays, pressed metal cornice with modillions, splayed corner with quoins, altered c 1956 storefront with cast iron columns remaining.
- This building housed the Woods and Taylor clothing store, and in 1950 Bower's Department Store, together with restaurants, office space, watch repair shops and beauty shops.
