Level 1: Minor alteration of an existing building/structure

This is a renovation of the Elliott Building. The main visual change for this project will be the removal of the third floor metal railing and replace it an exact copy of the second floor balcony wood railing.

In addition, the existing balcony columns, railings and fascias will be repaired, cleaned and painted. The brick and stone work will be cleaned on all brick and stone work. The existing cornicing, cornice roof, and brackets will either be patched and repaired, or removed and replaced to match the existing. The two main entrance doors will be removed and replaced with new doors in the existing frames. The new doors will be half panel with .5 beveled glass. The existing side lites, transoms and frames will be cleaned and repaired. The doors at or below sidewalk level will be replaced with doors similar to the two new main entry doors.

The windows have already been replaced under a separate approved permit. Historic type, masonry anchored, wrought iron protective grills may be installed over all windows below 8 feet above the exterior grade.
