Karyn Adams / City of Knoxville

Karyn’s work in higher education has spanned nearly two decades, and she currently leads the strategic efforts of HA ThirtyOne as the Principal and Creative Director of the woman-owned, higher-ed focused marketing and communications firm.


Her previous board service includes the Hearing & Speech Foundation, Leadership Blount, and Ijams Nature Center, where she served as President. Karyn currently serves on the University of Tennessee-Knoxville's Art Development Council and is a neighborhood representative on the South Knoxville Neighborhood & Business Coalition. She is a graduate of the League of Women Voters Citizens Academy and Leadership Blount ('08). Her goal as a commissioner is to promote Knoxville's opportunities for smart growth, walkability, entrepreneurship, historic preservation, mixed-use development, sustainability, and urban innovation.
